Nicki Minaj is still gunning for Jay-Z. Here’s what happened
Last updated: 20th October 2025
Nicki Minaj (real name Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty) continues to perplex her fans after walking back her claim she won’t release another album. In the early hours, the rapper said:
“Just know that I’m very happy with you guys and with the next chapter. Nothing is going to stop that. We are in the best musical place I’ve ever been in, ever in my life. And just complete musical clarity”.
She then added:
“They came BEGGING the QUEEN for a tour & album & I said NOPE!!!!! LMFAO. Wanted to patch it up. They needed help from the QUEEN & the BARBZ. I called the Barbz on the secret BARB phone & it was a resounding NOOOOOOOO. just like the casinooooooooooooooooooo”.
Later, she called out Jay-Z saying: “let me find out you gon let Desiree take the fall alone. I don’t blame you. That ugly a*s h*e. Btch gon snitch any way. You might as well beat her to it. Conspiracy. False imprisonment. Civil rights violations ???? RUN!!!!!!!!”
Minaj has said many things over the years, and this might be one of her best strategies to date. Her claim that “paid moles” are attempting to sabotage her career and family life appears to be the catalyst for her series of statements. Let’s recap what she said.
What Minaj Said
At first, it felt a bit dramatic, with a post that said:
“Ok I’m not going to put out the album anymore. No more music. Hope you’re happy now”.
Her statement also tagged Jay-Z, adding weight that it was directed at him. Minaj claims her life and career have been sabotaged by Roc Nation, a company he owns. However, her allegations appear directed at the company’s CEO, Desiree Perez, who has been at the helm since 2019.
The rapper has openly talked about these intrusions, even going so far to say they are surveilling her home:
“They don’t want you to see what I’m liking. … Listening devices. Cameras. Car tags”. And “Barbz it looks like I’ve been locked out of my Instagram”, alleging that she has been hacked.
But wait! There’s another axe she has to grind. Minaj believes she is owed between $100 – 200 million in royalties from her deal with music streaming platform — Tidal. But once again, evidence is lacking.
What’s the Truth?
There is no credible evidence suggesting the allegations are true. If anything does exist, it is likely tied up in back end negotiations, though that seems unlikely given how open she’s been about it. What is more probable, are defamation lawsuits if she is unable to substantiate these claims.
What Will Likely Happen
Jay-Z has been silent and it’s not likely he will respond either. It feels more like a vocal parade to reclaim control of a situation we probably don’t have the full picture of. Expect another announcement of…something.
With regards to the album, her recent statements suggest a move to reduce pressure on her target for a January 2026 release.
