Our curated list of remarkable and need-to-know music
Rhythm is served! Today’s menu is sugar and meat-heavy, with ear-pounding plates of singles, EPs, and albums. Here’s everything you need to know about this week’s music drops.
Arctic Monkeys – Opening Night
Arctic Monkeys refuel their music with a performance supporting the War Child charity project (HELP(2)), a campaign to help children affected by conflict. “Opening Night” is a moreish ballad highlighting thematic ideas such as illusion vs reality and material distraction. If any song is worthy of repeat listens, it’s this one.
Chy Cartier – Red Hot
UK rap is a difficult place to navigate due to the scale at which it’s expanding. Chy Cartier, who’s not only winning the game and in every other department too, drops her rapid new banger, ‘Red Hot’. It’s just a shame it’s currently missing from most platforms.
Harry Styles – Aperture
Former One Direction member Harry Styles has been developing his upcoming album for a while now. His latest single debuts its campaign with a synth-led dance floor number. Read our official review.
James Blake – Death of Love
James Blake launches his latest campaign with the arrival of a performance-led music video. His new single, Death of Love, tackles the fragility of connection catalysed by isolation and pressure. The multi-instrumentalist said the track was originally meant for another artist:
“Just bursting with optimism, as usual. It’s actually, initially it was a beat for Dave…I made the beat at Dave’s house… and then later, did turn out he had done a verse.”
Ella More – Never Even Happened
Ella More has been on our radar for a long time thanks to her remarkable vocal talent and a penchant for deconstructing ideas in song. Landing her fresh single, “Never Even Happened”, its alluring soundscape amplified by Logan Aspin’s strings, is a portal conjuring experience.
In a statement, the artist said: “I don’t usually do New Year’s resolutions but this song starts something new for me. It has the intuition of a new year, a new start, a fresh feeling of purity.”
TeeZandos – Crip
We’ve said all there needs to be said about TeeZandos’ new banger. Her rare game and talent are a cut above the rest, and it’s time the UK took notice. Billowing with smoke and exhausting the ears of her opponents, the London-based microphone-bruiser is ready to cause a storm.
The Scythe ft Denzel Curry, Bktherula & LAZER DIM 700 – “Lit Effect”
Formed by Denzel Curry with a commitment to promote southern rap, The Scythe returns with a statement track, “Lit Effect” ft Bktherula & LAZER DIM 700. It’s a braggadocious anthem for the club with varying styles over a production by BNYX. The track is taken from the group’s debut album Strictly 4 The Scythe, which is slated for a March 6, 2026 release.
