Iran Talks: Why Donald Trump May Be Lying — The Reason Why Is Simple

Donald Trump claims he is currently in positive negotiations with Iran. But why is Tehran denying that any talks are taking place?

Volatility in global markets has been yo-yoing due to conflict in the Middle East, and the origins of the war do not lie within the region. It’s no secret that the United States has long dreamed of regime change in Tehran, and the reason for this is simple — oil. Yes, surprise, surprise, oil has been at the forefront of the precarious situation currently rampaging throughout the region; to save face, President Donald Trump has reached out to the Iranian government for talks, specifically their “top person”. Or has he?

Donald Trump claims he is in talks with the ‘top person’ in Iran.

Majlis Refutes Washington’s Claims

The President has been vocal about Iran’s alleged willingness to mediate the situation; however, the Tehran administration says this is conjecture. On social media, the country’s parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has called Trump’s claims of talks “fake news”, and given the situation, why would Iran say this?

I am please to report that the United States of America, and the country of Iran, have had, over the last two days, very good and productive conversations regarding a complete and total resolution of our hostilities in the Middle East...” – President Donald J. Trump

Military Advantages

The evidence is in the outcome, and the Middle-Eastern state is holding all the cards as they: 1) control the Strait of Hormuz, 2) are attacking US bases across the region, leading to international trade uncertainty, 3) are networked with established proxy groups, leading to combat uncertainty, 4) are heavily influential across the region, 5) and a located within a strong geographical position due to their natural terrain.

They have also proven resilient despite international sanctions and are yet to yield. Not to mention, they have been preparing for a conflict for decades — the Israeli/U.S. strikes last year allowed them to spot gaps and shore up their own.

No negotiations have been held with the US, and fake news is used to manipulate the financial and oil markets and escape the quagmire in which the US and Israel are trapped,” – Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf

Having initially been receptive to talks, Tehran appears to have no interest in renewing negotiations following strikes which began during recent dialogue with the United States. Trump’s persistent claims that a fresh consultation is happening behind the scenes are the result of an absent strategy and a failure to perceive a long-term outcome. His current statements hoped to reduce market uncertainty, with Brent crude oil falling approximately 10%. When Iran denied any such negotiations, oil prices spiked.

Negotiations: Why Now?

So, what is Donald Trump talking about? The U.S. leader is trying to save face. Having fumbled his attacks on Iran, he has realised they’re in a stronger position than Washington made them out to be. Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth, who changed the name of the DOD to the Department of War, has been visibly naive in both his talk and advice to the president, with a hubris that has misled the country into a potential recession.
