Dopesmoke – “Hearts On Ice”

Taken from his new mixtape, Dopesmoke’s latest single, “Hearts On Ice,” explores a cold and emotionally detached, hostile environment fuelled by calculated moves and do-or-die attitudes. The rapper flows effortlessly over a sample of flutes and clapping snares, a combination that augments the solemnity of a forthright track, shaping a go-to rapper in the making.

Kairo Keyz Says He’s the “GOAT”

Kairo Keyz offers up another track, and although he’s putting in the work, there are clearly ceilings to his game. His new single, “GOAT”, alludes to a certain status, though despite claiming the title, there’s a long way to go. The songwriting and the delivery are cliché — and a touch on the nose — though the entire track languishes in a flow that’s familiar yet unoriginal and found wanting amongst a sea of counterpart rap.

CAP1TALA – “Just Another Day”

CAP1TALA exercises his right to be dope once again and reveals another gem for the genre over a beat produced by the rapper himself. “Just Another Day”, taken from his three-track EP da takeaways, sees the lyricist open up on a myriad of topics, beginning with a bar that sets the tone: “Just another day where I don’t feel sh*t”, before delivering a detailed account of a flurry of thoughts raging through his mind. It’s a stunning listen. The UK rapper is on the rise thanks to his skill with the pen and mic.
