Iconic British rock group announce new album.
The group known for their iconic hit Song 2 and Park Life dropped unexpected new music in the shape of The Narcissist as a promo single for their soon to be released album The Ballad of Darren.
The group reunited after working on the album which lead singer Damon Albarn pitches as “an aftershock record”.
The group’s bassist Alex James said that “for any long term relationship to last with any meaning you have to be able to surprise each other somehow and somehow we all continue to do that”. Drummer Dave Rowntree added: “it always feels very natural to make music together”.
Guitarist Graham Coxon said “The older and madder we get, it becomes more essential that what we play is loaded with the right emotion and intention. Sometimes just a riff doesn’t do the job.”
The album is the group’s first release in eight years since 2015’s The Magic Whip. It features artwork titled Gourock lido created by photographer Martin Parr. It is expected to be released 21st June of this year.
