Adidas’ New Climacool Laced Shoe – Everything You Need to Know

The footwear giant reveals a new revised version of its fan-favourite Climacool Series

Adidas has unveiled a new redesign of its iconic Climacool model, complete with a necessary update: laces. With an entirely 3D printed architecture, its lattice style aesthetic wields an attractive honeycomb pattern partnered by comfort and technology.

Minor Improvements

The inclusion of laces means it comes paired with a tongue (who would have thought?), both of which augment its look and style. Its addition improves upon its predecessor with a superior fit for greater flexibility.

Same Tech, Same Fit

Adidas claims that its firm sole provides better cushioning thanks to a softer upper. While they claim it’s tailored to provide a seamless experience, unlike traditional running shoes, it’s not responsive, as the brand instead opts for a spongy, damp finish.

This means it’s not exactly a great fit for runners or gym goers, but a more casual wearer. While an official heel-to-toe drop estimate has not yet been disclosed, it may mirror the 10mm measurement of its predecessor.

The Verdict

You’re essentially buying a pair of sandals with additional coverage. While they’re an attractive proposition, there are some caveats. The first being — unless you’re unbothered — styling will require particular curation.

From afar, the Climacool looks nice, but up close? It’s the footwear version of a cocooned Frodo Baggins.

Be sure to check your gait and foot preferences before shelling out, as the expected heel drop could either be like walking on a cloud or hiking barefoot.

Buy it Now

The Climacool Laced can be purchased directly from Adidas. It’s currently priced at $160 (£140). It’s available in two colour ways: Off White and Core Black.

You can place your order from July 15th at 08:00.
