The iPhone Duo isn’t a revelation, but Apple wins on two fronts
After years of holding off from the foldable phone, Apple finally unveiled its answer to a plethora of alternatives.
Starting at $1,999, the iPhone Duo features an array of features that aren’t exactly groundbreaking, but then again, no smartphone has offered buyers true innovation, and motivation to buy new products is pushed through bi-yearly upgrades, reinforced through marketing.
Service: The Apple Store Edge
Most smartphone users argue over menial features and functionality, and these differences make little difference. The only thing that can sway a user’s mind is how comfortable you are using it.

However, Apple tends to win in one area — the Apple Store. Nothing beats service, and in an age of increasingly little human interaction, Apple continues to invest in face-to-face operations. Complemented by its AppleCare policy, this deal fiercely competes.
Hand Strain
The only positive the iPhone Duo poses is a pro for your hands. It’s an unspoken pain that pretty much all smartphone users do not want to talk about, but hand strain, sprains and other injuries caused by overuse are becoming far more prevalent.
At 254 grams, the weight isn’t too bad, but the fact you’ll likely use it with both hands when unfolded could contribute to better hand health through a more even distribution of weight than clutching a heavier design with one hand.
Musculoskeletal researchers have suggested that two-handed smartphone use can reduce muscular strain compared to prolonged use with one hand.
That said, the iPhone Duo is still 53g heavier than its competitors, the Samsung Z Fold and Honor Magic V5. So if you’re comfortable with your current system, you’re not missing much, and vice versa.
Our Verdict
The Apple iPhone Duo is late to the party. With or without specifications, you’d still need a real-world test to see if it fits your lifestyle. With Siri AI on the horizon, once again, it’s not breaking new ground.
If anything, the ability to allow Siri to peruse your phone and contextualise conversations based on what it finds raises major privacy and security concerns. Stick to the baseline iPhone, whether AI is processed on or off your device.
