Chinx (OS) Goes to ‘War’ on New Boom-Bap Style Single

The drill rapper turns to purism on a hip-hop track with flow.

Through a consistent portfolio of music, Chinx (OS) (real name, Derek Pinto) is dropping one bomb after another. His latest single, War, shows he isn’t losing his touch.

What War Sounds Like

There’s a diversity in sound the spitter gravitates towards, and rather than be pigeonholed by an audibly repetitive identity, he walks a variable medium of character in his production choices.

Punchy snares and a whispering hi-hat glide through a story of adversity, binding the vocalist to sonic particles of a hurried kind. It magnifies the resilient nature of the tale being recited, and an assured confidence that he will always come out on top.

This time, his latest track, War, goes all out in a subtle endeavour. The beat, produced by HI8, will certainly please both sides of the spectrum. A boom-bap class helps the rapper traverse a different plain of rap while retaining his drill style.

Our Verdict

It’s by no means original, though it’s a fluent lesson in professionalism during a currently, very noisy scene. It’s hip-hop that appreciates the craft of narrative alongside a fluid delivery and Pinto keeps moving without a doubt. Shame about the video.

How to Hear It

Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube offer access to the track, with a music video published to the latter.
