“Life 4 A Life”: IDK & Pusha T Unload Colossal Fire

Explosive new song is the latest track from IDK’s upcoming album, with the rapper turning to Pusha T as his partner-in-rhyme

Rapper IDK taps hip-hop legend Pusha T for his new track “Life 4 A Life“, a scathing work of loosened motifs where the duo competes against the opposition through observation, rather than showcasing the actions they’re capable of.

“Life 4 A Life”: Review and Verdict

The finesse with which IDK continues to drop music of importance is a practice and masterclass in simmering rap, and the consequence of how-and-what-messages wordplay is capable of when employed correctly.

“The problem is the change ain’t enough to pay the bills
So for what the ice worth, they gon’ leave your body chill” – IDK

“Life 4 A Life” is a quintessential demonstration of how layered lyrics can edge the competition through competent understanding. Produced by Kaytranada, his score inspires the two rappers to create art with bravado over synth-heavy soundscapes, while each lyricist parleys with indignation and confidence.

From the get-go, IDK lays the groundwork with warnings and statements delivered from a confident mindset. Partnering with Pusha T was the obvious choice for this track, following their tour collaborations and a 2019 feature.

The Clipse rapper unloads what many describe as horror-like, dark vocals, whose addenda turn to real-life anecdotes, referencing rapper-turned-talk show hosts who overshare and gossip: “I can’t even podcast, givin’ all my past out,” before calling out names:

“Beggin’ for attention and mentionin’ me
Get your name penciled in, these guns ain’t whisperin’” -Pusha T

Which is then intensified in his final lines:

“Interview with anybody sittin’ in a glass house
I’ma pull that mask out, all you niggas mascots
Lookin’ at the difference ‘tween the have and the have-nots”.
