Opinion: Ineos and Manchester United owner makes bigoted comments on immigration
Jim Ratcliffe wants you to believe that immigrants arriving in dinghies are the problem. But Britain’s economic malaise is caused by other factors, namely Brexit, the very referendum he chose to support. Now, in a time of mass exodus and a falling population, he’s placing the blame solely on the very people we need. It won’t surprise you that he is a fervent supporter of Nigel Farage and his populist monkey-see-monkey-do, Trump-esque politics.
What Jim Ratcliffe Said
“You can’t have an economy with nine million people on benefits and huge levels of immigrants coming in.”
“I mean, the UK is being colonised. It’s costing too much money.”
“You can’t have an economy with nine million people on benefits and huge levels of immigrants coming in.”
“If you really want to deal with the major issues of immigration, with people opting to take benefits rather than working for a living, if you want to deal with that, then you are going to have to do some things which are unpopular and show some courage.”

A billionaire whose vast wealth exceeds his own needs demonstrates a succinct lack of intelligence. Claiming you are going to have to do something courageous whilst hoarding vast sums of money is beyond hypocritical.
Prize Hypocrite
By his logic, it’s cowardly. So cough it up, Mr Ratcliffe, a man whose name reflects that of his character, although cliffs and rats actually have a purpose, unlike the INEOS billionaire. It’s rather interesting that he would choose to purchase a football club nicknamed The Red Devils, because that’s exactly what he appears to be.
No offence to Man Utd fans, but the disappointment with those who have the means to do something and, rather than help, prefer to criticise. Of the vast resources swelling their bank accounts, they could also take action to alleviate global suffering and poverty, including throughout the UK. Instead, like a raging, entitled man spitting at the homeless and vulnerable, shouting “get a job”, he chooses to sideline his abilities.
He’s either lying or he’s stupid. Because sitting on a pile of money, criticising everyone else, when you yourself have the opportunity to contribute to the United Kingdom’s betterment, is a beyond-belief paradox.
