Hip-hop legends Nas and DJ Premier announce their latest collaboration, Light-Years, which will be released next month
Last updated: 8th December 2025
We’ve been saying this for a long time, long before it came to fruition. We’ve been called liars and more, but today Nas and DJ Premier announced their collaborative album, “Light-Years”. Here’s what you need to know.

Tracklist and Features
The album will consist of historically unreleased and fresh tracks dating back to approximately 2006 — that’s nearly 20 years ago. This means unfulfilled ideas and more will be included, something Nas himself has confirmed:
“I’m going to say at least two of those ideas happened on this album,”…“We didn’t get a chance to do ’em when we were talking about ’em, but we finally got a chance to put those recordings together this year.”
So far, no tracklist has been announced, however, past rumours assert the album will be approximately 8-tracks long — though this is highly unlikely given their background and history. Preemo and Nastradamus go way back — as far as the Illmatic days, with their chemistry continuing to influence contemporary rappers.

Light-Years will be entirely produced by DJ Premier. As for features, we can only speculate, though it could be a straight-fire album consisting of just the two, or it could be anchored by historical partnerships. Given the nature of the Legend Has It… campaign, it’s likely we could see features from Mobb Deep, Big L, Raekwon and Ghosface Killah, and possibly De La Soul. However, my wildcard picks are AZ and a song with Kendrick Lamar.
Recording Sessions
The album was recorded in two studios: Kaufman Astroia Studios, and D+D Studios in New York.
Release Date and Record Label
The album is set to be released on the 12th December 2025, that gives fans and family plenty of time to buy and gift vinyl and cassette copies. It will be released via Jones’ own label Mass Appeal.
