Nemzzz (Nemiah Simms) has partnered up with the most unendurable hip-hop artist, Lil Yachty, for his new track, “GEEKIN” — for reasons I do not know. While the UK rapper‘s style is reminiscent of several others, his collaboration with the Atlanta-based artist only drags him from his own potential.

GEEKIN” is the epitome of immoderate flossing of wealth, and really, it’s not doing the two any favours. Its visuals are unimaginative, trend-hungry, derivative and typical of a rushed shoot — much like how the song sounds itself. With a

Nemzzz doesn’t need to step up his game by enlisting Lil Yachty; he can carry his own weight, but this track is as pretentious as what it implies, so the two end up pouring petrol on credentials — not that they ever did for his American counterpart. Overall, “GEEKIN” is a major skip; it feels and sounds like it’s made for the sake of it. Simms can do, and has done, better than this, and this latest joint only proves that collaborations with no real chemistry can upend your own style.
