The Blue Note collective surprise listeners with the announcement of their new release ‘Motion I’.
Blue Note have been on a roll for 85 years, and recently unveiled another stunning feat in Immanuel Wilkins’ ‘Blues Blood’.
Nearly two weeks on, the legendary label announced the formation of super group ‘Out of/Into’ (formerly Blue Note Quintet). It is comprised of the record company’s best talent including the alto saxophonist, plus drummer Kendrick Scott, pianist Gerald Clayton, vibraphonist Joel Ross, and bassist Matt Brewer.
Clayton spoke on the unity and synergy of the group, saying: “We pushed one another to reach further and dig deeper night after night. Over the course of two months, the music expanded in all directions. Things grew both tighter and looser. So much talent and creativity was on that bandstand.”
Debut Album Revealed
The collective are set to release their debut album ‘Motion I’ on December 6th, and today revealed the single “Ofafrii”, taken from it.
