Redman is back. Fresh off the announcement for the upcoming album Muddy Waters Too, the rapper announced the release of new single Don’t Wanna C Me Rich, just hours before it was due to drop.
Full of wacky, stylistic tropes and crazy gestures, it’s safe to say the New Jersey rapper is priming his audience for a new hip-hop project.
In September, Newark’s pioneer of boom-bap recently pumped up the volume with a performance at the Red Bull BC One breakdancing event in Venice Beach.
This was followed up with a freestyle with long-time friends Method Man and Raekwon
What It Sounds Like
The Blackout! artist is back to his usual antics, delivering crisp, clean verses packed with vivid descriptions. Metaphors are abound over an infectious production as the rapper showcases his trademark flow.
Production for the single was handled by Reggie Noble himself with input from Dez the Producer.

Mixed by Josh Gannet and mastered by Rich Keller, it features a rich and catchy tapestry of traditional Gilla beats. Redman has confirmed it is a track taken from the upcoming album.
The Music Video
The music video captures his classic energy, showcasing his trademark comedic output that fans adore him for.
Directed by Red himself alongside Rock Davis, it features locations ranging from a bus, a street to a supermarket through the lens of his chaotic signature style.
Characters in the video can be seen performing an eccentric dance, one that is fitting with the artist’s vibe.
Verdict
“Ladies and gentleman!” Opening to a classic and recognisable phrase, it retains his typical archetypal flow.
While the music video feels jarring compared to his earlier outings, it has a certain charm due to its raw and matter of fact visuals.
Dont Wanna C Me Rich is an interesting opener in anticipation of new music, and considering it is his first album in a while, we wouldn’t expect anything less than this definitive sound.
