Following the release of his new album, the hip-hop artist has dropped the first video for his hotly anticipated sixth studio project.
Consider this the first single taken from Kendrick Lamar’s GNX, which has already achieved 120 million streams in just over 30 hours. This feat has already smashed records, showcasing the rapper’s ever expanding fan base.
What It Sounds Like
Rapping over a distinct West Coast sound, the track—produced by Mustard—features a new stylistic vocal delivery, which has divided fans.

The song allegedly continues the ongoing feud with Drake.
What Is The Video About?
In the video, Lamar is seen standing almost stationary against a forest green wall, while a circus of events unfolds around him.
These include actors riding BMX bicycles as a parade of inanimate objects. Characters can also be seen crip-walking and dancing in a celebration of Lamar’s West Coast roots.
There are also statements showcased on banners, which include a rotating CD of Nate Dogg and a Buick GNX.
The storyboard is largely influenced by ideas within the hip-hop world including the video for The Roots’ single The Next Movement. There are also nods to scenes from Menace II Society as well as memes and events like the ‘Compton Christmas Parade.’
