Lack Of Willpower And Smartphones Increases Haemorrhoids Risk

New research reveals sitting on the toilet for too long can lead to piles

Remember that viral YouTube video ‘sitting on the toilet?’ Well, don’t. According to findings by Boston’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Americans spend more than 4 hours on the toilet each day.

Prolonged phone use can increase risk of haemorrhoids.

New research uncovered such extraordinary behaviour can lead to an astounding 46% risk increase of haemorrhoids.

What are Haemorrhoids?

Haemorrhoids are the result of swollen veins, visible sometimes outside the anus. They can also occur inside the rectum, causing pain and anal bleeding.

What Causes Haemorrhoids?

Essentially, sitting for long periods. Increased pressure causes the blood vessels to enlarge, resulting in pain and potentially blood in your stool.

What’s the Solution?

Don’t do it. Leave your phone in another room. What’s so important you need to be attached to your device for so long? No to mention, all the fecal matter landing on it, yuck! What on earth are you doing for four hours?
