In the context of the Syrian war, Assad and Putin seize opportunities amid Israeli strikes on Gaza.
Following Israel’s incessant bombardment of the Gaza Strip, Assad’s forces assisted by the Russian air force have pounded the city of Idlib, and other areas, targeting rebel groups.
The strikes hit several areas, including the town of Al-Ghassaniyah, and Douir al-Akrad, west of Hama.
David Carden, who is UN Deputy Regional Humanitarian Coordinator for the Syrian war Crisis, exclaimed: “What’s particularly distressing is the growing reports of child deaths, the youngest being six months old,”. He told Relief Web “I reiterate my call to all parties to respect their obligations under International Humanitarian Law, particularly regarding the protection of civilians and civilian objects. In no circumstances should a child be collateral damage,”
According to a United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) report, one-third of fatalities are that of children, while food has been distributed to 42,000 people, alongside 26,000 registered to receive people with protection services which includes psychosocial aid. Displacement has resulted in the distribution of 4,000 tents.
