Cult classic anime Akira returns for another limited UK run from this weekend.
1 minute read
Encore! My fellow geeks and comic book-reading freaks everywhere, one of the greatest Anime movies of all time will return to the big screen. Following its success in the limited April run, Akira will be returning to cinemas in the UK.
What You Need To Know
Directed by Katsuhiro รtomo, the film was originally released in 1988 and has gained legendary status in the anime community. Starring Mami Koyama, Mitsuo Iwata, and Nozomu Sasaki, the film has been widely referenced in pop culture and inspired many live-action and animated movies. Some even credit it with inspiring parts of The Matrix.
Fans of Akira and the original graphic novel will find this especially appealing following its short run in the spring. With little promotion, many missed out on the opportunity to see it in its original 35mm format glory. This time around, the film will be shown in 4K and in English dub.
