New music from ASAP Rocky sees the rapper embrace catchy melody as looming album nears
ASAP Rocky has finally dropped music from his upcoming album ‘Don’t Be Dumb’. Accompanied by visuals, the video stars Winona Ryder as the rapper’s next-door neighbour and is directed by Folkert Verdoorn and Simon Becks.
‘Punk Rocky’: Review and Verdict
“Punk Rocky” is a soft punk-led track with hints of pop and hip-hop inspired elements from movie score motifs.
Produced by the rapper himself, it leans heavily into a thematic push toward reinvention while maintaining the posturing of a braggadocious persona. It’s catchy, with a melody that grows on you, though it may not be everyone’s cup of tea.

When viewed through the lens of alternative music, it can be an enjoyable flirt with something different, though it certainly will not please rap purists.
Rocky’s pursuit of something new is in full swing, as also evidenced by his collaboration with Tim Burton. Overall, it’s a great attempt though missing a pinch of something.
