Chad Hugo returns with new music alongside two of hip-hop’s most exciting rappers on “Jumpupw!nya”
Chad Hugo partners up with Leikeli47 and Tierra Whack for one of the most re-listenable singles of the year. Their new release, “Jumpupw!nya”, is a high-octane dance anthem that references Caribbean dance culture. Once again, the man described by Pharrell Williams as a “savant”, and credited as the anchor of The Neptunes, returns to hip-hop in style.

“Jumpupw!nya” is Chad Hugo’s first release in years and marks the launch of his new label, Galaxie. His production is undeniably explosive; there can be no doubt about his contribution not only to music, but to the impact contemporary hip-hop has had on the industry.
This fresh track is infectiously representative of the producer’s iconic style, showcasing just how important he has been as the backbone of many of his past releases. This time, he’s joined by Leikeli47 and Tierra Whack, whose style and prose match the vibe with sensational energy. The two rappers are an excellent pairing, launching their assault with a Virginia and Philly flavour that only they know how to deliver.

Leikeli is the starter pistol, spitting to assert her position: “Spicy little thing like black pepper on her grind, the one they all watch, been ahead of my time”, while Whack executes her usual feat of intricate rhyme schemes “Cantaloupe, yeah antidote, call PETA ’cause I’m about to go animal, APE sh*t, I’m going bananas, we dodging those lights, those cameras.”
Credited with producing some of the world’s most iconic beats, his influence and creativity are heard in instantly recognisable sounds, from the guitar riff on Justin Timberlake’s “Like I Love You” to the synths on Snoop Dogg’s “Drop It Like It’s Hot”. Hugo’s surge of fiery production shows no signs of slowing down as he moves with intention, bringing purpose to production once again. The only thing holding it back is its short run time; this could have been an anthem.
