UK rapper Chy Cartier once again revises hip-hop new single, ‘Race’
Chy Cartier is relishing the climb up the ladder to the top, but she’s already there, sitting and waiting for her UK rap contemporaries to catch up. That’s what “Race”, her new single, projects, with a boisterous melody partnered with a vocal incantation that will make other rappers feel just that little less hopeful of their chances of success.
Influences and Statement
The track, produced by Henes, Bkay, and babycashy, taps into the mid-2000s motif of flattering beats of electro and synth-heavy hip-hop. “Race” dives headfirst into the sonics of its epoch, and it’s a stylistic choice that’s perfectly suited to Cartier’s dominant flow and tangible statements.
The music video, directed by Domamanic, features a Bratz-style avatar of Chy, with the rapper licking off shots against a purple hue in her trademark bangs.
