Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three ramps up hype after releasing another trailer for the franchise’s third instalment
Legendary Pictures has released the latest trailer for Dune: Part Three, and as expected, the story changes direction and showcases the consequences of Paul Atreides’ rise to power. The film stars Timothée Chalamet as the emperor, Zendaya as Chani, and Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica.
Expectations
While the first two films took the world by storm, with many applauding the movie’s direction, some critics and fans took issue with the franchise’s perceived linear and “predictable” storytelling. For instance, some social media users believed it was only lauded for its atmosphere and cinematography, claiming that it carried the story further than it would have without it.
That said, it continues to blow the box office out of the water and is noted as a strong contender for the year’s highest-grossing movie. Its director, Denis Villeneuve, will want to give cinemagoers something to think about after being attached to direct the next James Bond film. As for me personally, I will probably watch it out of curiosity, though I will likely fall into the category of the apathetic.
Dune: Part Three is stocked with A-list names, including Javier Bardem as Stilgar, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia Atreides, Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, and Charlotte Rampling as Gaius Helen Mohiam.
Three new main castings have also been made, including Robert Pattinson, who will play Scytale; Ida Brooke as Ghanima Atreides; and Jason Momoa’s son, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa, who plays Paul’s son, Leto II Atreides.
Dune: Part Three is slated for a December 18, 2026 release via Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures.
