With news of their latest collaboration, the rappers confirm POMPEII // UTILITY, will be a double album.

Earl Sweatshirt, MIKE, and producer collective SURF GANG announced a 33-track collaborative double album titled, POMPEII // UTILITY. Here’s everything you need to know, minus our usual waffle.
What You Need to Know
The album is split into two acts, with MIKE leading 15 tracks for POMPEII, while Earl Sweatshirt will unleash UTILITY with 18 songs. The entire release is produced by New York City production collective, SURFGANG, whose members include Harrison, evilgiane, and Eera.
Themes
In a press release, the duo said: “Where two rappers going head-to-head might otherwise incite rivalry or comparison, this project offers something rooted and communal — a shared understanding of care, joy, grief, process, and responsibility to something larger than yourself,”
MIKE’s POMPEII represents the eruption of volatile elements being frozen in time—renewal amidst the chaos. Sweatshirt’s UTILITY taps into themes of resilience and the determination to rebuild.
“The album’s title and conceptual framework draw from the eruption of Pompeii, with themes of building and destruction reflected in both the artwork and ethos. During one particularly baked studio session, the energy in the room slipped into a haze where they describe feeling ‘frozen in time,’ sparking the image of Pompeii.”
“It evokes African and diasporic traditions where art and story are collective, iterative, relational — part of a larger whole. From top to bottom, there was a clear concerted effort to keep every angle of the project within the family.”
Single Releases
With two singles already released, “Minty” and “Earth”, fans got to hear what sounds are on the menu. The rappers further studded their project rollout with the release of a combined music video. From what we’ve heard, it’s a palatable drop of heavy notes complete with underground hip-hop motifs.

The album is available to pre-save now on major streaming platforms via record labels Tan Cressida, 10k Projects, and Surf Gang and is licensed to The Harp.
Release Date
POMPEII // UTILITY drops on the 3rd April 2026 with a US, Europe, and UK “Home On The Range” tour following shortly after, which is currently in pre-sale.
