Anonymous sources claim Jay-Z will take to the stage for the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show

With the NFL season already underway, Jay-Z has reportedly picked himself to perform at the Super Bowl LXI halftime show in 2027. A report by Puck, citing unnamed sources, broke the news, though the claim remains unverified. Here’s what you need to know.

Jay-Z has been upping the ante with the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt.

In the report, Puck journalist Dave Brooks, founder of Amplify, said: “…the pick has long felt inevitable and more compelling than Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber, both of whom were considered for SBLXI.”

Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, owns entertainment company Roc Nation, which has helped oversee and curate the Super Bowl halftime show since 2019.

If true, The Blueprint rapper has essentially chosen himself over other possible candidates, subject to the NFL’s approval, though Jay has a big say in it.

While the claim remains unconfirmed, it makes sense given Jay-Z’s 30th Reasonable Doubt anniversary celebrations, his freestyle at The Roots Picnic, and rumours of an upcoming album.
