It’s been years in the making, but Tim Burton appears to have pulled off a gem of a movie.

It is in but mere trailer clues that we unravel the sequel to the beloved 1988 classic starring Michael Keaton; a sophomore effort where he reprises his role as the ghostly apparition ‘Beetlejuice.’

Commercial success inspires a second film

The original was such a hit, that it spawned its own action figure line of toys embedding itself in the conscious of movie buffs and casual watchers. Gen Z’s lust for the ‘90s has perhaps also proven significant in helping a new chapter come to fruition. As the trailer opens, it succinctly charms viewers with “Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)” from the get-go, a number intrinsic to the original’s memorability.

Who is in the sequel?

The latest iteration of Burton’s original screenplay features the return of key actors, Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara and introduces Monica Bellucci, Willem Dafoe, Jenna Ortega and Justin Theroux. Though aficionados are rightly angry at the inflammatory remakes of cherished intellectual properties, sometimes continuations can work out; and we hope the same for the aptly titled follow-up “Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice
