James Gunn excites comic book fans with an extended clip from his new DC superhero film.
James Gunn has revealed another Superman trailer; this time, an extended sneak peak of what is to come. Featuring an action packed sensational preview, the fresh DC Comics film is likely to appease those concerned with rumours of terrible feedback.
The short clip includes everything you’ve seen before with extras that have got fans pumped. The movie is set to be influenced by the silver age timeline of the Man of Steel, though many believe the story is inspired by the comic book, All Star Superman by Grant Morrison.
Watching the Trailer
Krypto the Dog continues to generate buzz for his cute, friendly, but pushy behaviour. In the footage, the super puppy can be seen pulling Kal-El by his cape towards the Fortress of Solitude.

Inside, he is greeted by robotic assistants (voiced by Alan Tudyk) that aid in its day to day duties. They help the Kryptonian following what appears to be a catastrophic event.
Fans React
Once again, fans are divided. One side has praised it for its originality, while others believe the CGI could have been much better. Fans on Reddit highlighted their excitement: “I’ve seen so many bad takes on this Krypto and fortress scene. It’s just so fun and enjoyable to watch, I truly don’t understand the doubters.” Another user said, “PEAK fortress imo.”
This is Why Some Fans Aren’t Convinced
Others, weren’t so receptive: “Nothing about this appeals to me at all.”…”Nothing made me want to fly like superman. It ALL feels so artificially brightened, artificially colorful, over-processed and phony, not remotely tactile and authentic, nothing feels like something you could actually touch. While Snyder turned Superman into a dark scary alien, this film is going too far the other way, and just turning him into a joke.”
A fellow commentator concurred, “Agreed. The colors, the CGI, the brightness, this all looks like some kind of Shazam 2 style silliness. I don’t get the hype at all, just because it’s comic accurate doesn’t mean it’s automatically good, or translates well to the big screen.”
Special effects have seen a decline in recent years. When considering breakthrough attention to detail in franchises like, Transformers (2007), everything has been downhill from then on.
The film stars David Corenswet as Superman, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern. It is due to be released 11th July, 2025.
