It is directed by Gia Coppola, the granddaughter of Francis Ford Coppola, whose career primarily consists of music video direction.
She is responsible for features including Palo Alto, and The Seven Faces of Jane and Mainsteam, all of which received mixed-reviews.
The Production: Some Truth Behind The Story
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Kate Gersten, who wrote the screenplay, revealed that the movie was inspired by her own experiences working with the Jubilee in Las Vegas, a production that was one of the last of its kind.
The feature showcases costumes designed by Bob Mackie, now considered museum artifacts for their intricate designs and historical importance.
Production was a family collaboration, with Copolla’s cousin Robert Schwartzman (whose brother Jason is cast in the movie) and her mother, who handled the costume design.
Will the Film Have a Cinematic Release?
Yes, it will premiere in LA release on December 10th 2024, with a nationwide US distribution from January 10th 2025 followed by a UK release from February 25th.
