Disney reveals first look at their upcoming Ryan Gosling led Star Wars film
And here we are. Ryan Gosling has moved from Oscar buzz to Tatooine. That’s a great thing for movies. Today, Lucasfilm gave us a first look at their new Star Wars film — Starfighter.
Cast Details and Director
Disney has finally announced the cast of this highly anticipated project, one audiences and fans of the franchise hope will restore its prestige.
Starfighter will see Mia Goth, Matt Smith, Aaron Pierre, Daniel Ings, Jamael Westman, and Amy Adams star alongside Ryan Gosling, who will be supported Flynn Gray. British actor Simon Bird is also set for a role in the science-fiction adventure.
“Star Wars shaped my sense of what story can do, how characters and cinematic moments can live with us forever.” Director Shawn Levy
Shawn Levy is attached to direct , but what has he overseen you ask? Nothing. That puts us in relatively unknown territory for what to expect; though he has produced several productions including Deadpool & Wolverine — which doesn’t mean anything.
However, he does seem pumped to get started: “From the day Kathy Kennedy called me up, inviting me to develop an original adventure in this incredible Star Wars galaxy, this experience has been a dream come true, creatively and personally.”
Let’s hope Disney holds back from interfering — we all know how that turned out.
Star Wars: Starfighter: The Plot
While the plot has been kept under wraps, we can only speculate on comments made by Levy in press events: “To join this storytelling galaxy with such brilliant collaborators onscreen and off, is the thrill of a lifetime.”
Now, this can mean anything, as well as the fact he has throughly explored its lore. Or it can mean we’ll get another piece of utter garbage. I’m pessimistic, but would love to see Disney turn it around. And by that, I mean sell the franchise to someone who knows what they’re doing.
I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt, he does seem confident — though we’ve been there before with JJ Abrams and Rian Johnson.
