The Turtles franchise returns to consoles with an adaptation of the beloved comic book
Following the delayed movie adaptation, Paramount Games has moved to announce the development of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin video game. But we’ve been here before. In the last twenty-four hours, hype has reached an all-time high, with fans of the Heroes in a Half Shell giddy with anticipation.
The Plot and Characters
It’s one of the greatest TMNT stories, and yet movement on additional licences has largely stalled. The Last Ronin — a story by IDW Publishing — follows the exploits of the last remaining Hamato Clan member appears to have been given a lifeline.
RELATED STORY: Everything You Need To Know About The Last Ronin Movie
The game is based on the five-issue comic book run — written by Kevin Eastman and Tom Waltz — of the same name, so we can expect much of the foundation to remain faithful to the core story. This means it will be set in a dystopian New York ruled by Shredder’s grandson, Oroku Hiroto. Expect a rainy, dark, and brooding gameplay atmosphere, replete with the potential for gritty combat and stealth-driven ninja stalking.

The story also features flashbacks of the Turtles, Splinter, the Mousers, the Foot Clan, and Baxter Stockman, as well as April O’Neil, her daughter (Casey Marie Jones), and Casey Jones.
Release Date
While there is no release date as yet, an official announcement means the licence is now moving into a viable marketing phase. In short, it represents a soft commitment to the game’s development. Sign up to Stanisland Magazine’s mailing list for early access news exclusive updates.
