Michael B. Jordan returns with a suspenseful new trailer for his upcoming interpretation of The Thomas Crown Affair
Michael B. Jordan continues to curate a slick slate of film projects, with his latest starring and directed by the man himself. The Thomas Crown Affair is a modern reimagining of the classic film about the title character, a billionaire seeking zest in life once again who takes it upon himself to steal priceless artworks.
What To Expect
This will be the third iteration since the 1968 film starring Steve McQueen, with the second featuring the smooth Pierce Brosnan. Jordan seeks to build on that with the same sultry vibe, but this time increasing the scale through grandiose set pieces, including skyscraper climbs, museum and gallery break-ins, and intricate escapes.
The difference this time? Underlying themes of morality, with allusions to stolen artefacts motivating Crown to go above and beyond to do the right thing. Based on the trailer, it looks like we can expect James Bond-esque flair and hints of heist films such as Ocean’s Eleven, with tension woven into every aspect of the lead character’s life. In the trailer, we see the billionaire race cars, jump off of buildings, steal a Van Gogh, and get the girl.
“I didn’t want a reboot. I wanted a reimagination. The first two films were about rich white guys stealing for fun. That doesn’t land today,” Jordan told Variety. “Ours is more personal. The stakes are higher. Still got the fashion, romance.”
Based on everything we’ve seen so far, it looks like we can expect an explosive screenplay and a deeper look into a modern interpretation of a contemporary scene. As well as Michael B Jordan, who directs the movie himself, the film stars Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, Aubrey Plaza, Ruth Negga, Pilou Asbæk, and Paapa Essiedu.

The Thomas Crown Affair is produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), Outlier Society, Atlas Entertainment, and Toberoff Productions, and will be distributed by Amazon MGM Studios from 5 March 2027
