New music from the quartet sees them substitute a signature sound for emotive timbre.
86TVs have been lurking around the music scene for awhile, but now they’re pulling out all the stops. ‘Komorebi‘ is the latest single from the rock group, a track that is a far cry from the usual auditory experience we are privy to. On it, they trade their typical high-strung guitars and smashing snares for a more melancholy tone, drawing on poignancy to evoke a new side.
This time, the band incorporates a sombre sound with a video to match, tilled with a cinematic experience that recruits the anger of John McEnroe. If you’re unfamiliar with the group, their members include Felix White (formerly of The Maccabees) and Jamie Morrison (Stereophonics).
What’s the video like?
In the video, the US tennis legend plays the role of a conflict resolution therapist, taking notes, and counselling members of the teary-eyed band. Later, we see McEnroe confront his own inner anger, as he begins to smash vases and tear into flowers until the four musicians ironically comfort him.
The band‘s self-titled debut album is due for release on August 2nd.
