Rapper J.Cole joins forces with DJ Clue to once again surprise fans with an explosive new freestyle mixtape, “Birthday Blizzard”
Last updated: 29th January 2026
It’s great to hear DJ Clue give himself a shout-out once again. His latest drop sees him team up with J.Cole for a four-track freestyle EP titled, Birthday Blizzard ‘26. The entire release is centred around early Bad Boy music and is a gift to fans on the rap stars birthday.
Review and Verdict
The first entry, “Bronx Zoo Freestyle”, is a fire verse over Puff Daddy’s track Victory, a collaboration with Notorious B.I.G. This time round, Cole slides a gritty, raw set of bars over a Stevie J beat that samples the classic Rocky theme.
Next up is “Golden Goose”, performed over Black Rob’s Can I Live, before jacking up the pressure with “Winter Storm” over Biggie’s Who Shot Ya. The rapper then finishes off with “99 Build”, which once again gets the classic treatment using the Money, Power, Respect instrumental.
Despite starting off rough, it quickly progresses into relentless artillery fire, chock full of incendiary similes and entendres, like: “I’m in desperate need of commas, like a run on sentence.”
No doubt this release will bolster the hype surrounding his forthcoming and highly anticipated album, The Fall-Off.
Birthday Blizzard ‘26 is available to purchase for $1 directly from the North Caroline based rapper’s website.
