The rapper/director returns with a comedy-crime movie starring an A-list cast
Talented director Boots Riley is back with a new crime-comedy film, I Love Boosters. Fans are excited for his fresh project thanks to the release of the latest trailer today. This is what you need to know.
‘I Love Boosters’ Plot
I Love Boosters is set in the modern day and follows a group of shoplifters called The Velvet Gang, led by Corvette (Keke Palmer). The team steal high-end luxury goods, subsequently reselling at lower prices. In particular, the crew target fashion maven Christie Smith (played by Demi Moore), who appropriated one of Maven’s designs.
Cast and Crew Details
The cast boasts an ensemble of phenomenal talent. As well as Keke Palmer and Demi Moore, the line-up also includes Naomi Ackie, Taylour Paige, Poppy Liu, Eiza González, LaKeith Stanfield, Will Poulter, and Don Cheadle.
The film is directed by rapper Boots Riley and is his first film since the critically acclaimed 2018 film Sorry To Bother You.
Cinematic Release Date
The world premiere for I Love Boosters was held at the SXSW Film & TV Festival on March 12th, 2026. A theatrical release in cinemas is expected to drop May 22nd, 2026 and will be distributed by NEON Films.
