Roll your eyes again: Joshua Radin’s cover of Jackie Wilson’s “Higher & Higher” puts us to sleep
Joshua Radin releases a surprise cover of Jackie Wilson‘s (Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) “Higher and Higher“, with his usual sonic ideas forming the basis of its sound. However, we unfortunately get the same old singer-songwriter again, and while I appreciate his admiration for the classic track, his twist is quite simply a Radinisation of it, where the musician sucks out the powerful tonality it was created with.
Radin has a history of covering other artist’s works; however his stripped-back style can either wash away its personality or add to it. In this case — a vampire strikes again.
