The artist formerly known as Kanye West is back with another single. This time he recruits Travis Scott
Ye is back with new song , “Father”, taken from his forthcoming album Bully. The track features rapper Travis Scott and has sparked viral chatter online.
Father: A Limited Effort
We’ve all been waiting for Yeezy to make his grand return, but I’m sorry to say — this isn’t it. The rapper-producer’s new track, “Father,” is a stripped-back bassy production that could be seen as a pivot to a different genre, but it still doesn’t quite land.
Each verse is built as a self aggrandising statement, and at times stylistically catches for a touchdown. However, lyrically, it’s shallow, like in verse one: “But I’m back to life like an Epi-Pen”. Travis Scott’s efforts are equally average, though the production is marginally better.
Featuring a music video with wild symbolism, it’s directed by the artist’s wife, Bianca Censori. The visuals, featuring a digital Michael Jackson, are probably the best thing about the release.
