Silent Hillโs sequel was an instant fail for the fans. Could the franchise be making the same mistake again? We React
What a story, what a game! Silent Hillโs debut in cinema was a fun watch heralding some incredible practical effects. Directed by Christopher Gans, the 2006 film was a fan favourite, with a balanced formula, steady pacing, great direction โ aside from Sean Beanโs awful accent, and ultimately we came away with a sense of being entertained. This time, Gans returns to reclaim his creation following its sophomore effort which bombed at the box office. But does it look good?
Our Verdict
Sadly, its follow up , Silent Hill: Revelations, was a difficult watch. The director was changed, the cast ballooned and the plot was meaningless. While the original director Christophe Gans will take the directorโs chair for Return to Silent Hill, unfortunately (sigh), it looks like itโs happening again.
The CGI looks cheap, the story โ unoriginal and overall, it feels like a product of straight to streaming. Now, itโs fair to say that we should give it a chance, but I am not so sure they can bring this one home.
Weโre hopeful it will be a fruitful release, however, going by the trailer, it looks like the studio has its hands all over it again, and reports indicate thatโs exactly what has happened.
