Everything you need to know about Pixar’s latest film: Toy Story 5

Toy Story 5 has all the hallmarks of an entertaining feature, and a wake up call for parents. Did we need another Pixar movie? It turns out — yes. The latest sequel could have been more fitting as a third and final instalment rather than just another film. Disney recently revealed the teaser for it and there’s talking points.
The Plot
The fifth instalment of the franchise sees the toys up against a new arch-nemesis — a smart tablet. It’s a noticeable shift from the narrative of its predecessors, with the gang forced to confront the looming threat of technology — and quite possibly, annoying TikTok trends.
Cast and Production
The film is directed by Andrew Stanton and is co‑directed by McKenna Harris. All the usual suspects return, with Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, Ernie Hudson as Combat Carl, and Joan Cusack as Jessie, who is set to become a major part of the story.
The latest addition to the cast sees Conan O’Brien join to play new character, Smarty Pants.
The Verdict
It’s hard to tell with so little information right now, but reviving Toy Story again could mean one of two things: the script is strong, or Disney is desperate. Either way, it should have been made a long time ago.
Release Date
Toy Story 5 is slated for June 19th 2026.
