Whitney Houston is finally getting a Barbie doll courtesy of Mattel. So, collectors and fans, snap it up now and teach resellers a lesson. The template comes from Houston’s own idea, which was proposed more than 20 years ago. The figure recreates an iconic outfit taken from one of the singer’s most popular 1987 music videos, “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)”.
Not only is it one of her most streamed and biggest-selling hit songs, it paved the way for a long list of musicians, vocalists, and more. The “I Will Always Love You” singer pitched the idea to Mattel more than two decades ago.

Fast forward four years from her debut, the pop and R&B sensation has earned a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award, a New Jersey Hall of Fame honour, adding to a long list of 400 career awards, including six Grammys.

Mattel’s Barbie dolls are generally made from a standard mould, and this action figure is no different.
