Filmmaker Yi Zhou accused the Marvel actor of sending unsolicited images and alleges he threatened to call immigration after she confronted him

Actor Jeremy Renner has been accused of misconduct by filmmaker Yi Zhou. The 54 year old Marvel actor, known for playing the character Hawkeye, is alleged to have sent her “unsolicited pornographic images of himself”. Zhou says he began sending explicit photos to her beginning June 2025, prompting her to confront Renner (See timeline of events below).
Yi Zhou’s Allegations
In response, Renner threatened to call ICE on Zhou, something she addressed in a statement on social media. The filmmaker said:
“It is with deep regret, sadness, and disappointment that I am compelled to share a truth I have been holding inside for too long,”
“Mr Renner first contacted me directly in June, sending personal and intimate photographs of himself, behavior that, according to public reports, he has exhibited before.”
In response to his threats, Zhou said:
“When I called him out privately about his past misconduct and asked him to behave properly, to respect me as a woman and as a filmmaker, he threatened to call immigration/ICE on me, an act that deeply shocked and frightened me,” she wrote, “No woman, filmmaker, or creative should have to work under such emotional and psychological pressure while trying to protect her name and the integrity of her work.”
Timeline of events:
- June 2025: Renner allegedly makes first contact. He is accused of sending Zhou intimate pictures of himself
- Mid- 2025: Both Zhou and Renner collaborate on two projects — Chronicles of Disney (a documentary) and Stardust Future: Stars and Scars (an animated feature)
- 20th August 2025: A meeting is held at Renner’s Reno, Nevada home. Zhou claims the actor becomes drunk and begins shouting for 2 hours. The filmmaker says she feared for her safety, eventually locking herself in a room. She shares her location with friends and colleagues.
- September 2025: Several social media posts indicate the two are romantically involved.
- October 2025: Zhou confronts Renner about his behaviour, telling him he is denying both their professional and personal relationship. She says he then threatened to call ICE (immigration)
- November 2025: Zhou reveals their history together
