Hip-hop mogul Jay-Z has dropped his accuser from a lawsuit pursuing action against Tony Buzbee
An allegation against Jay-Z (Sean Carter) has been withdrawn following a declaration by a Jane Doe withdrawing the accusations. The case was dropped by the accuser in February 2025 with prejudice.
The Facts
The woman originally filed a complaint against the Hard Knock Life hip-hop figure and claimed she was sexually assaulted by Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and Mr Carter. However, she has now recanted. Her former lawyer, Tony Buzbee, commented on the situation, saying, “We have multiple lawyers (at least four) who dealt with Ms. Doe long before she met me. She gave the exact same story to each.”
The incident was alleged to have occurred in September 2000, when she was 13. Jane Doe filed a complaint in October 2024, with Jay-Z later named in an amended complaint in December. He subsequently denied the allegation.
In response, Jay-Z countered with legal action against her lawyer, Tony Buzbee, and Buzbee’s law firm.

Jay-Z’s case may be strengthened by the sworn statement denying the allegations. Her declaration applies to Jay-Z only.
