Explosive rap from Da Flyy Hooligan sees him drop another laudable work of new UK hip-hop
It wasn’t long ago that Da Flyy Hooligan dropped his phenomenal record ‘LO&B‘, proving his artistry transcends between the constraints of genres and sonic labels. Today, he returns with his fresh energy driven EP, “Business Is Personal“, and this time the rapper grounds himself firmly in his roots as a UK rap artist, picklocking the entrance to a new hip-hop sphere.
Review and Verdict
It all begins with ‘That’s A Given‘, softly transitioning the listener into the Gourmet Deluxx artist’s arena, as he populates the track with his recognisable cadence, expounding wordplay in a way only he knows. Next up is ‘Play For Keeps‘, steered by a production filled with dramatic purpose, as the UK rapper pours a medley of slick lyrics over the track with a movie-score outcome.
The tempo then shifts into ‘Vertigo‘, featuring music by Maschine Man Tim, where the spitter trades game and stories, paraphrasing experiences before portalling into ‘Accustomed‘, produced by Rye Mann. We then glide into the next song, ‘Way Too High‘, featuring Nabat Zain Dewhurst, whose vocals, as on the rapper’s last drop, contribute a meaningful, sustained, and soft presence alongside the score-crafting exploits of Digga Mindz.
Business Is Personal lays down its intent through the energy it effuses, its collaborations and stylistic choices that evade an otherwise indistinguishable wave of industry drops. Da Flyy Hooligan’s natural flair and bruising wordplay leave indents of a passive nature, a skill afforded to a select few.
