Director Denis Villeneuve is set to bring Dune: Part Three to theatres this December with a stacked cast

Fresh off the block from being ridiculed the world over, and even more so under the microscope at the Oscars, Timothée Chalamet returns with another portrayal as Paul Atreides in Dune: Part Three, this time fully shaved, so he looks more like a baby than he already does. While I’m sure lots of people enjoy his portrayal as heir to the throne, I do feel there were better options than the ballet-hating actor. But, alas, it is what it is and here we are.
Having found success in science fiction films, it’s no surprise that its director, Denis Villeneuve, returns once again to the franchise, and this time brings his existing stockpile of acting talent alongside another juggernaut of film.
What To Expect
Based on the trailer, Dune 3 looks to have a broodier palette of darker hues and a more intense cinematography, framing, and direction. So don’t expect what you walked into before — you may just come out disappointed.

While kudos go to its director, Denis Villeneuve, the creative who should really take the trophy home is Greg Freiser, who has a seriously stacked portfolio of work, which includes The Batman, Dune I & II, and Star Wars: A Rogue Story. This time, he’s not pulling any punches, and his involvement alone makes this film a must-watch. Though if it remains the banal presentation we witnessed over the past two instalments, you may want to be half in, half out.
The Plot
The film is based on “Dune Messiah“, so expect less conflict and more political cause and effect. Atriedes is now Emperor, and the story shifts to the costs of a movement that has outgrown his power.
The Cast
Of course, Timothée Chalamet returns as the film’s lead, Paul, alongside Zendaya, who reprises her role as Chani, along with Florence Pugh (Princess Irulan), Josh Brolin (Gurney Halleck), Javier Bardem (Stilgar), Léa Seydoux (Lady Margot), Rebecca Ferguson (Lady Jessica), and Jason Momoa, who says, “I’m making a comeback” as Duncan Idaho. Joining the cast is Robert Pattinson — who is filming everything but Batman these days — as Scytale.
Release Date and Production Details
Dune: Part Three will be released by Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Entertainment in approximately December 2026, though a concrete date has not yet been formalised.
