As Kid Rock releases the tracklist for his new album, Eminem fans are surprised to see Marshall Mathers on it too

With the current political climate and — no matter what you think of it — Eminem’s diss of Donald Trump, it’s hard to believe the rapper has partnered with the President’s performer and RFK Jr.’s workout partner, Kid Rock. The hip-hop juggernaut is listed as a featured artist on “7 Sins”, a track from his upcoming album, Halfway 2 Jesus.

Kid Rock ft Eminem – “Fuck Off”

It makes no sense that he would feature on the right-wing pro-ICE rock singer’s upcoming album. Perhaps it’s an older verse he purchased, though I highly doubt someone would sit on a recording as potentially lucrative as this. Social media users also feel let down, with one saying, “This is weird,” while another said, “I don’t think I can forgive Em for this.” Others were in disbelief, with one saying, “Yeah, I’ll believe it when I see it.”

Music History

In the past, Rock (real name Robert Ritchie) said: “I love Eminem. We’ve been friends for many years. I don’t agree with his politics, but I do give credit to him and people like Taylor Swift for standing up and not being afraid to be vocal for that which they believe.” He continued, “Thinking differently and having the freedom to do so is what makes this country great.” However, he colourfully described himself as “unequivocally MAGA.”

Eminem has similarly spoken about their friendship, remarking: “Me and Bob have been friends since way back in the day, but I haven’t spoken to him in a while.” Historically, Mathers and Ritchie have worked together on two songs: “F**k Off” (1998) and “My Fault” (1999), with a third collaboration, “7 Sins”, now on the way.

Nevertheless, contributing to an album — a project built around thematic constructs — means any artist added as a feature is offering substance to the wider ideas it hopes to broadcast.
