Rap trio send genre for a tailspin with latest single, “Drive High”
Featuring a menacing gang of snares and a punishing bassline, GG Peney, Bambeh, and Goon continue painting an ever-expanding hip-hop canvas. The trio’s new single “Drive High” is out today.
Drive High: An Assertive Rap Sound
Drive High is a brooding belt of beats driven by three of hip-hop’s most exciting and emerging artists. Opening with Bambeh, the UK rapper’s irreverent style tees up Goon, who strikes with a maximal hook before launching into a dramatic performance in like manner.
The alliance began when the three discussed the prospect of a collaboration online. Once the “track was laced”, both GG and Goon reached out to Bambeh.
Elaborating, Goon explained his ideas for the track, telling how it inspired an eerie output: “The sample gave me this bad, dark energy when I talk about being ready for war”. He added, “It’s a mix between an egotrip and real life stories.”
Production powerhouse GG Peney told of how the sound’s journey evolved over time, explaining the beat was “something I made within the first year of moving to the Netherlands”. Using local music stores to find new sounds, he collected second hand records before brewing the feisty concoction we hear today.
Stream and Buy
You can stream the track on all major platforms, including YouTube, Apple Music, Spotify, and Tidal. Alternatively, purchase a copy to own from Bandcamp.
