The actor and stuntman is facing backlash for bigoted comments he made on his podcast

Jackass cast member Steve‑O is facing backlash for his comments on immigrants. His talking points and language choices mirror that of incumbent US President Donald Trump.

Steve-O makes shockingly bigoted comments on his podcast.

Steve-O’s Comments

The comments were made on his podcast, Steve‑O’s Wild Ride!, and many listeners didn’t realise it would be a literal one.

During a discussion on immigration, the actor and stuntman said:

“So many of these people who are illegally in America… it’s like the majority of them are murderers.”

Special guest Harland Williams disagreed and pushed back, saying it was a generalisation. However, Steve‑O failed to correct himself and instead doubled down, saying, “If they’re not murderers, they’re selling fentanyl.”

Apology

Following the backlash, Steve‑O took to social media to address his comments, calling them sarcastic:

“I have been just as horrified and saddened by the atrocities committed by ICE as everyone else, so it’s come as a complete shock to me that anyone thought I was serious when I made an absurd, sarcastic comment about “most immigrants being murderers.”

Factually, less than 0.1% of the human population will ever commit homicide, so of course I don’t believe that. If there’s a group of people more likely to murder anyone, it would be ICE agents, not immigrants.

To all of the people sending me angry messages: apologies for the false alarm. I promise you, I wasn’t being serious at all. Man, what a bummer to be misunderstood around that one…”

The Reality

People are not stupid. The fact that Steve-O had multiple opportunities to correct himself and explain he was joking, but failed to do so, speaks volumes. Only after the backlash did he release a statement to condone ICE and frame his comments as sarcasm, but this sounds more like genuine belief.
