Marvel Studios unleashes the latest Avengers: Doomsday trailer in a spectacle of repeat business
Marvel Studios and Disney have unveiled another sneak peek at Avengers: Doomsday, which they’re calling a “special look”. But really, it’s another trailer, and can they keep this up before fans and casual viewers become bored?
The Trailer
In the trailer, we see Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom sitting on a throne as a voiceover declares: “Victor was always the smartest guy in every room.” We then see the formidable threat engage the Avengers, making short work of Thor amid what appears to be a flattened city.
Synopsis: A Familiar Plot
Disney & Marvel have published a plot that reads much like their other films. The official synopsis reads:
“Heroes from three different worlds must unite when they’re thrust together to confront a catastrophic danger that could destroy everything they know.”
Essentially, they’re selling the same formula to a new generation, hoping they are oblivious to previous iterations.
The Verdict
This will hopefully mark the beginning of the end of the Avengers movie franchise. I mean, they’ve been dragging the same actors out for nearly twenty years. Hollywood has now led comic book movies to a place of banality and unrecognisable grandeur; audiences are frustrated and weary of a cast that now feels mismatched.
It’s certainly not what it once was. It’s time to give new characters a chance, but it seems Marvel Studios and Disney would prefer to kill off potentially new ways of working.
Release Date
After being postponed from 1 May, Avengers: Doomsday will now release in cinemas on 18 December 2026.
