Rapper & producer Baby Keem’s latest album taps talent and brings his own fire
In the midst of Kendrick Lamar’s album rumours, Hykeem Jamaal Carter Jr. better known as Baby Keem, drops his own solo project, Casino.
Casino: Review and Verdict
Musically, Keem has put his foot down, intrinsically weaving himself into the roots of his own mind. This resulted in a body of work that is distinguishable from his debut, but this time, he’s grown, both as an artist and a person. The music does the talking throughout an 11-track ballad of reflective works.
At times, Casino is experimental, others, genre-shaping. While we can frame this as 5 years after The Melodic Blue, Carter Jr. hasn’t stopped, and he has clearly withdrawn to perfect his craft. For the most part, he traverses a space between poignant, revolutionary, and commanding.
