Opinion: Boring! Another banal Beckham family story grabs headlines without merit
Brooklyn Beckham is perpetually ‘finding himself’. Like a piece of driftwood, he’s finally moored himself to his billionaire wife in a lifestyle far removed from his millionaire parents. His father’s response? “Children are allowed to make mistakes. That is how they learn… You sometimes have to let them make those mistakes as well.”
From photography to cooking to hot sauce and now lifestyle branding, the man is soaking in nepotism. Would he have got to where he is without his parents? Probably not. The fact remains, this is a case study in celebrity obsession, and the very weird addiction society has to the drama it breeds.
Claims Pending Proven
If his claims are true, his mother’s conduct is bizarre, but celebrity parents acting out is hardly unprecedented. While the claim that his mother danced “inappropriately” on her son is bewildering, we’re yet to see any evidence of this. If it happened, there’s certainly a wedding tape of it.
Let’s get one thing clear, this situation is far from remarkable, and we all know someone who has been through something themselves. What could this all possibly be over? Likely a classic case of one child believing his siblings have had more done for them. There’s little that warrants admiration. They’re very much the same as all of us — just a lot more money. Should we care about his so-called trials? Without substantial evidence, this is content. It’s a private family disagreement repackaged as a spectacle and its fuel? You.
