Discover the instant classic “White Russian”, featuring two of hip-hop’s lyrical titans, Melanin 9 and ROC Marciano

From the UK to the USA, Melanin 9 and ROC Marciano dropped one of the hardest collaborations on “White Russian“, taken from M9’s debut 2012 album, Magna Carta. Dusty boom-bap snares permeate the track, teeing up Marci to blaze the beat with his usual toxophilite bravado. Paving the way for London’s rap protagonist, Melanin 9, the lyricist brings the rain with a lyrical swipe of a bladed pen we’ve all come to know him for: “Tongue kiss of plutonium lip, bell’s split, for ships of opium grips of polar shifts,” before leading into cosmic wordplay of the highest hip-hop order. If we had to send another Voyager Golden Record into space with a handful of hip-hop tracks, this should be on the shortlist.
