Pokémon Company CEO releases statement on what fans can expect from the latest store
The Pokémon Company has announced that a physical London outlet will be the destination for its first-ever Pokémon store outside of Asia. The move comes following the franchise’s 30th anniversary, with celebrations in full swing.
Gaku Susai, CEO of the company, said: “This new London store will give visitors the chance to step into the world of Pokémon,” adding, “whether they’re discovering the brand for the first time or have been Trainers for years.”
What to Expect
The London store will stock exclusive merchandise, so expect more moustache-clad Pikachu plush toys, as well as special art cards.
While the store is expected to launch by 2029, it could open much sooner if the right conditions are met. Despite no confirmation of a location, we can speculate that the company, like most of its other stores, will seek a shopping mall-based venue.
A Community Space
Another clue in Sakai’s statement is that he wants this to become “…a place where everyone can come together, feel like part of a community and enjoy the magic of Pokémon in a whole new way.” So perhaps we can expect a card play area, a communal gaming centre, a café or all of the above.
